Nadat het de woede van talloze orkanen en noordwesters heeft doorstaan, is het Old Courts Building een van de weinige overgebleven negentiende-eeuwse bouwwerken op de eilanden. Al meer dan honderdtachtig jaar is het een welkome aanblik voor terugkerende schildpadden en zeelieden. Voordat er een vuurtoren werd gebouwd, werd er elke avond een lantaarn aan de vlaggenmast ten zuiden van het gebouw gehesen om de navigatie te vergemakkelijken.
