Los Haitis National Park
With an extension of 1600 km² (618 square miles), Los Haites National Park is one of the jewels of the National Parks System of the Dominican Republic. The Haitis, which means "mountainous earth" in Taíno, attracts numerous visitors who arrive by boat to admire their magnificent series of 30 -meter rock formations (98 feet) high that stand out from water. The park also has extensive mangroves throughout its bay, splashed with Keys that house numerous bird colonies, as well as a series of caves known for housing one of the greatest amounts of petroglyphs and pictographs of the country.
